Georgia International Food Center at the Parham Kitchen
The Georgia International Food Center – Milledgeville, GA (GIFC) will be housed out of the Parham Kitchen of the recently renovated Renaissance Park (the former Central State Hospital Campus) and function as a centralized processing and packaging group for fresh Georgia agricultural products for food entrepreneurs, restaurants, convenience stores, prisons, hospitals, schools, and universities. Additionally, the GIFC will help procure the same products for FSPGA’s Parham Kitchen. Through centralized procurement, washing, chopping, slicing, juicing, pureeing and/or packaging; Georgia Grown agricultural products will be able to spread nationwide, through new and current distribution systems, to those who desire fresh, clean label, local and/or natural agricultural fruits and vegetables. Interest from environmentally friendly and health conscious groups are already on the horizon. The GIFC will be supported by local growers, farmers, and producers. Harvests will be pre-contracted. This will ensure immediate delivery to the GIFC improving quality, lower rot rates and guarantee little raw food waste. The GIFC will also procure fruits and vegetables that are in edible condition but may not meet size or appearance conditions necessary to go into other food distribution outlets. The GIFC will also offer co-packaging opportunities for those wishing to create their own line of fresh produce products.
